Community input for the next animal services director
Austin’s animal welfare ecosystem relies on volunteers, rescue partners, fosters, and community members who support the city’s animals every day. Because these groups work directly with animal services operations, their insight is essential when the city selects its next Animal Services Director.
This page originally collected signatures in support of a community letter urging a transparent, community-centered search process. On December 2, the first packet was submitted to the Mayor and every Austin City Council office, including the letter and 543 community signatures.
We are continuing to collect signatures. Additional names will be compiled and forwarded to the Mayor and Council offices every few days to ensure they receive ongoing community input throughout the Director search process.
Step 1. Read the letter
Step 2. Sign your name
Please sign below if you would like your name added to the community letter above. It has already been sent to City Council but the signature count will continue to be communicated.
Step 3. SHARE YOUR STORY
Your story matters. Sharing why you chose to sign the letter helps illustrate the community’s lived experiences with Austin’s animal services.
